We finished off my birthday month with a small road trip to the most charming Air BnB in Ledbetter, TX, about 10 minutes from Round Top, a town know for it’s antique shops and of course their biannual antiques fair. Did we attend the fair? Nah, but one thing led to another and I discovered this gem. Needing a vacay and not willing to travel too far we said what we usually say to each other in these instances fuck it, TREAT YO SELF! Luckily, I have Bree who is always up for my last minute ideas, especially if they involve some amazing photo ops!
Long, narrow dirt roads, wispy tall grass, and as always, open skies. That was the backdrop to our short drive to Ledbetter, TX. If you haven’t heard about it, we can’t blame you, it’s a small town easy to miss if you blink at the wrong moment. Its’ entryway marked with Steurmer’s general store and followed by a post office - yes, that’s it. Lucky for Ledbetter visitors, Mockingbird Fields can also be added to places to visit while in town, that is if you are fortunate enough to book it.
Chelsea and Aaron created this gorgeous, quiet little country heaven not far from Houston. THE bathtub of our dreams, wallpaper that seriously makes you consider covering your own walls with it, wooden floors with just the right amount of creaking, the antique furniture and vintage portraits that makes one wonder, was this all theirs before they left? A hammock and fire pit just outside the French doors, and guess what? An adorable four-legged host, Jasper, is also included. Be sure to visit Mockingbird Fields for that much needed weekend away.
